Starting point	Walk east outside of Varrock, take a left in the fork in the path. Follow the path and open the gate. Walk south-west, staying close to the fence, until you reach Launa.

Description	A rift in the ground has opened up releasing all manner of strange monsters into the lands near the Digsite. A sorrowful mother waits at the top of the rift for her long lost son, who has been missing for 25 years. You can journey down into the rift for an adventure full of twisted monsters all created from the mind of a young boy driven to madness through incarceration.

Dangerous	Must be able to defeat level 45+ monsters.

 

1. Teleport to the Digsite and then walk south to the Exam Centre. Alternatively, teleport to Varrock Square and follow the map directions below.

2. Speak to an Examiner in the building and talk about taking an Exam. You will be given an Unstamped letter.

3. Teleport to Varrock Museum and give the letter to Curator Haig Halen who is located inside.

4. He will add his seal to the document so return to the Examiner and take the Level 1 Test. 

You will get all of the answers wrong. The Digsite worker's will provide the correct answers in return for items.

 

Teddy Bear

Head north of the Exam Centre and search the Bush on the eastern footpath into the Digsite. You obtain a Teddy Bear.

Speak the with the student dressed in purple and with blonde hair. Give her the Teddy in exchange for the Exam answer.

 

Animal Skull

Use the Steal-from option on a Digsite workman until you obtain the Animal skull.

Give this item to the student (located on the south side) wearing a green shirt with blonde hair in return for the Exam answer.

 

Special Cup

Speak to the Student on the eastern side, wearing an orange shirt and with black hair. He tells you he has lost his Special cup.

Go to the south-eastern side and take the Panning tray from the table inside the large tent.

Go to the water and try to Pan with it. The Panning guide will stop you as you are uninvited. Offer him a Cup of tea and try to Pan again. On lifting the Pan from the water use the Search option on the Pan until you find the Special cup.

Return to the Student and give him the Special cup in return for the Exam answer.

 

Take the Exams

Level 1

Return to the Exam Centre. Speak to the Examiner and take the Exam. Provide the following answers:-

 

1. Can you tell me what Earth Sciences is? The study of the earth, its contents and history.
2. Can you tell me which people are allowed to use the digsite? All that have passed the appropriate Earth Sciences exam.
3. Can you tell me the proper safety points when working on a digsite? Gloves and boots to be worn at all times; proper tools must be used.

You will receive a Level 1 Certificate and a Trowel.

Level 2

Return to the Digsite and speak to the same students to obtain the 3 answers for the Level 2 Exam. Go back to the Examiner, take the Exam and provide these answers:-

 

1. Can you tell me how we transport samples? Samples taken in rough form; kept only in sealed containers.
2. What is the proper way to handle finds? Finds must be carefully handled, and gloves worn.
3. Can you tell me the proper use for a rock pick? Always handle with care; strike cleanly on its cleaving point.

You will receive a level 2 Certificate.

Level 3

Return to the Digsite and speak to the same students. The female student will request an uncut opal or opal. Go back to the panning area until you retrieve this and return to her with the gem in exchange for the Exam answer.

Go back to the Examiner, take the Exam and provide these answers:-

 

 

 

1. Can you tell me how we prepare samples? Samples cleaned, and carried only in specimen jars.

1. What is the proper way to use a specimen brush? Brush carefully and slowly using short strokes.

1. Can you describe the technique for handling bones? Handle bones very carefully and keep them away from other samples.

You will receive a level 3 Certificate and authorisation to dig on the Dig Site.

 

Ancient Talisman 

In the Exam Centre, open and search the Cupboard on the south wall to get a Specimen jar.

Go back to the Digsite and use a Trowel with the Soil in the northern-most spot containing a skeleton until you retrieve the Ancient talisman.

Return to the Exam Centre and speak to the Archaeological Expert in the west part of the building. He will explain it is a Talisman of Zaros.

He gives you a Invitation letter which you must show to Dig Site workers.

 

Making a Chemical Compound

Return to the Dig Site and speak to one of the moving Dig site work men at the western spot with the Winch.

After, use your Rope with the Winch and then operate the Winch.

Pick up an Arcenia root near the rope then search the Bricks in the middle. Return to the surface and walk north-east to another Winch. Use your Rope on it and Operate it.

Speak to Doug Deeping and ask him how you can move a large pile of rocks. He gives you a Chest key that you can now use with the Chest located in the Tent where you obtained the Panning tray (earlier).

To make the compound do the following:-

 

• Use your trowel on the barrel with the skull on it to open it. Use your vial on the barrel to get an unidentified liquid. Do not drop the vial as you will take 25 damage.

• Search the specimen tray north of the tent with a specimen jar in your inventory until you find charcoal. Use the charcoal with a pestle and mortar.

• Go back to the archaeological expert in the Exam Centre to learn the chemical powder is ammonium nitrate and then show the unidentified liquid to him. Do not drop or empty any of these as you will take damage!

• Mix the nitroglycerin and the ammonium nitrate, add ground charcoal and then add the arcenia root. The result is a chemical compound. Do not drop this!

 

Using the Chemical Compound

Return to the Dig Site and Operate the western Winch.

Use the Chemical compound with the Bricks and then use your Tinderbox with the Bricks to ignite it. Move away to the west.

Go into the room that you can now access and pick up the Stone tablet. Return to the Archaeological expert to complete the Quest.
