The Official OSRS Podcast Episode 11 With Soup

If you can't see the podcast episode embedded above, just click here to watch it or check out the episode on other platforms.

It's Ayiza, Sween, and the behind-the-scenes Creative Services team here, and we're excited to announce that The Official Old School RuneScape Podcast has been greenlit for a second season! We're hoping (but the best-laid plans and all that...) to begin recording Season 2 in early March.

We can't begin to thank you enough. Your support for the 10 episodes of Season 1 saw us pass 1.5 million views and listens across all platforms, a number that is far greater than we ever expected to see. Thank you!

If you haven't checked out the podcast yet, please consider doing so. There are 12 episodes (including the two pilot episodes) to get stuck into. Discoverability has gotten much worse in a world increasingly led by algorithms, and the more support we get from you before Season 2, the better the chances of our podcast reaching interested eyes and ears.

That's not all. As a treat, we've got three special episodes for you. Kicking things off today is an episode with Soup, followed by episodes with J1mmy and Odablock!

There's one more thing we'd like your help with. This is your chance to have your say: Which J-Mods do you want to see join us for Season 2? What would you want us to ask them? Let us know!

Now, onto today's guest!

Soup is the creator behind Gielinor Games, the reality-show-inspired OSRS series that has brought together almost 70 creators across its seasons and helped introduce plenty of newer faces to a much wider audience. This episode is a proper behind-the-scenes chat about how the show came to be, how it keeps evolving, and what it really takes to turn a pile of footage, personalities, and chaos into something that feels like must-watch RuneScape.

What to expect in this episode:

  • Reality TV in Gielinor: where the idea for Gielinor Games came from, how Soup pitched it to creators, and why the earliest seasons felt like a pilot that somehow turned into a full-on show.
  • Making a season work: planning formats and twists months ahead, building confessionals, shaping storylines in the edit, and the small details that make the whole thing feel like a proper series (not just a compilation of clips).
  • Casting and community: why each season brings in 8 to 10 new creators, how Soup thinks about spotlighting newer names, and the awkward reality of not being able to invite everyone back every single time.
  • Production chaos, the fun kind: wrong-world mishaps, re-shoots, rules calls mid-filming, and the practical fixes that keep everything moving when things inevitably go sideways.
  • Life as a creator: how sponsorships and audience expectations have changed over the years, how Soup treats his channel like a business without losing the joy of playing, and what the next evolution of Gielinor Games could look like.

This episode was recorded on 15th January 2026.

What's Next?

We have two more special episodes lined up, with J1mmy and Odablock. After that, we're aiming to kick off Season 2 recordings in early March, and we will be back with more news on what to expect from the future episodes of The Official OSRS Podcast.

We've really tried to make something that you can enjoy listening to whether you're playing OSRS, on the commute, school run, or wherever else. We do need your help, however. Please give them a watch and a listen and tell us what you think. We intend to use the feedback we gather from the first season to shape what the future of the podcast could look like. Check out The Official OSRS Podcast on the below platforms and follow/subscribe/turn notifications on etc. Discoverability has gotten much worse in a world increasingly led by algorithms, and the more support we get from you in these early stages the better the chances of our podcast reaching interested eyes and ears.
