Leagues is back but let's not beat around the bush, you already knew this was coming, right? This time, Yama has taken a keen interest in Leagues and has decided that you and The Sage shouldn't have all the fun!
That's right, in an apt move for the sixth Leagues we're going demonic in theme as we cleanse ourselves with hellfire and commit to a deadly entity for power beyond all normal possibility.
As always, you'll be met with a roster of tasks, powerful Relics (new, reworked & returning), region-locking, and of course some interesting new changes! And we're not too far away from it either as this April you'll be able to jump back into this fun and frantic game mode.
In this blog we'll give you a rundown of the top-level info you need to know, but as always, we'll be keeping some things close to our chest. In the coming months expect to see plenty of teasers, hints and information!
Before we forget, make sure to check out the Leagues Discord server to join your fellow Leagues lovers in theorycrafting, speculation, and feedback. There's always plenty of fun to be had there whenever a game mode is afoot!
Rules
As a quick rundown for those of you that haven't played Leagues before. This is a temporary game mode that last for 8 weeks, where you begin your journey as a brand-new Ironman (which is a separate save on whichever character you choose to play on)!
With an experience multiplier and a list of tasks by your side, you can choose how you want to progress! By completing tasks you will unlock powerful Relics (or in this case Pacts) which will change the way you play by allowing you to do things you wouldn't be able to in the normal game, like automatically banking items you acquire, powerful teleports and more!
In Leagues, you're locked to one region initially. As you progress through the list of available tasks and earn more points, you'll earn the ability to unlock additional regions. Be warned, you can't unlock every region, so you'll have to plan accordingly to what kind of content you want access to. For some more specifics:
- Everyone is an Ironman, which means no trading, picking items up from other players or using the Grand Exchange
- You'll start with an accerlerated XP rate of 5x, which will increase as you unlock more Relics
- You'll have unlimited run energy
- You'll automatically have a certain amount of quests and achievement diary tasks completed to access specific things:
- Rune Mysteries for Runecraft
- Druidic Ritual for Herblore
- And more
- You'll have a choice between 3 Relics within the Leagues tutorial, but be aware these choices are permanent and cannot be changed
- More Relics can be unlocked by obtaining more points
- Tasks are broken up between Easy to Master with higher the tier giving more points. These could be things like:
- Admire some scenery
- Complete the Fremennik Achievement Diaries
- Cry in a Graveyard
- Obtain a 99 in a skill
What's Changed?
While we know the majority of you know the core ins and out of Leagues, the biggest thing you want to understand is what we're changing!
Area-Locking
Just like our last couple of Leagues, we're bringing area-locking back which means you'll be able to unlock extra regions outside of where you begin, but... where will that be? While Yama isn't ready to give you the details on the starting area just yet, we can confirm it will not be Misthalin, so you'll be starting your new Leagues journey in a whole different region.
Speaking of regions, you'll still be able to receive Karamja for free, but this time it won't come as an automatic unlock during the tutorial and will instead come as a free unlock within your first few hours of playing. With starting in a brand-new area for the first time in a region-locked Leagues, it was important to us that you can spend time in the starting region without the need for anything additional. Karamja own it's own doesn't feel like much of a regional choice, so we still wanted to offer it for free to everyone!
Starting Area
Yama is not one to share details of his contracts early, such as where we start the league... however, what we have been told is that you'll be beginning this adventure within a new version of Yama's lair. This version isn't tied to the one you'll currently find in the main game as you'll see the Sage locked up in Nan's favourite holiday destination as Yama has taken over from here.
Within his lair you'll be completing the tutorial, finding out more as to what happened with The Sage and will be a good way to get everyone ready before sending you off into the world! You'll be able to come back to this starting area at any time, but we'll talk about this more later.
Boss Variants & Their Rewards
As they were so popular, we're looking to bring back the previous League's Echo Bosses! For those unfamiliar, these versions of bosses are more powerful and mechanically different alternatives of some of the big baddies of the world. While this time you'll be mostly familiar with what bosses you'll be facing, you might not see all the rewards from last League return and instead some new friends taking their place. We'll share more soon.
Demonic Pacts
The other very popular area is Combat Masteries, a complimentary system that came alongside Relics that focus on purely combat and gave some interesting and unique boosts. The system will be making a glorious return this League, but with some exciting, less linear changes! We'll look to share more on what you can expect from the new Demonic Pacts in the future.
Sailing
While Sailing's inclusion is very recent and very substantial addition to the game, we've decided to not include it as part of Leagues VI. While this could be great exposure for those that just play Leagues or allow those who haven't tried it yet to dip their toes in, we wanted to give the community the opportunity to enjoy sailing as it was intended to be played, before we allow everyone to go wild with things like incredible power-ups and accelerated XP rates.
Any future skill that is added to Old School will not be part of any game modes for around the first 12 months of its release; however, you should expect to sail across the seas in future events from 2027 onwards.
Rewards
lthough you won't be gaining any XP on your main, that doesn't mean you can't benefit from some flashy in-game rewards to show off your Leagues progress! As per usual we have a combination of consistent rewards like the Leagues costume, banner and home teleport animation alongside some other devilishly-themed goodies!
Just like every Leagues, we will of course be giving players Trophies depending on what rank they achieve, from Bronze all the way to Dragon that will lean into this League's theming!
Classic Rewards
Demonic Pacts Outfit
The devil does indeed dig a bit of Prada, and that shows in our first reward. Commit yourself to Yama as Leagues VI's outfit has you lose more of your essence while Yama's influence takes over, corrupting and morphing you throughout the tiers. Alongside the devilish good robes, you'll be fitted with a Yama-rific cane.
Question:
Should the Demonic Pacts Outfit, a cosmetic armour described in the blog, be added to the Leagues Reward Shop? This will consist of three tiers of cosmetic outfits that represent the League alongside a thematic cane.

Please note Yama or any of his minions cannot be held liable for any burning, aches, scratches, sores, hellfire scorching, damage to property, damming of souls or everlasting torment, check the contract you signed for more information.
